Is it alive? Can it move?
Want to be that successful teacher whom everyone admires and all the students love?
Want to know what the favorite teacher trick is?
You need to make your students excited to come to class to learn. Simple as that, you need to capture their interest. Capturing children’s interest is not too difficult. However, it makes all the difference when you are trying to teach a lesson. Get them involved, get them wanting to know how something works and you got them hooked to listening to you teach.
Children will start to feel ownership in their studies when you allow them to learn something they want to know more about and something that they are interested in.
Although a teacher may need to follow a certain curriculum and cannot just teach anything, there is a way to get students interested.
It may be easier to capture their attention when they are younger, and when they are older it may a bit more difficult, however you must hook and capture their attention to be THAT teacher!
Learn the trick on how to bait them:
- Books always work! Start a lesson with a short story.
- You! Yes, you must be interested in the lesson and show them you want to learn more too and you are excited to teach it!
Need helping capturing their imagination?
- Start the lesson by asking a question
- Make it relevant for the children- bring in something that has to do with their home life
- give a hands on demonstration
- Have a visual
- Get the children to research it themselves- project based learning
Children are born curious, hook them to bring it out, capture them to teach and satiate them to remember.
